Job Description:
Full-time Description We are seeking a Field Technician – Signs.
As a member of the SWARCO McCain team, you will provide technical
support for new and existing sign installations and perform
modifications to existing signs. Duties / Responsibilities Program
and configure sign equipment at new installations to ensure systems
operate according to project plans and specifications. Modify
existing signs and associated equipment to align with updated
design plans or operational requirements. Diagnose, repaid, and
replace malfunctioning equipment or components. Provide migration
support for software and hardware upgrades related to signs.
Operate aerial lift equipment (such as boom lifts or bucket trucks)
to access elevated sign structures for troubleshooting,
configuration, and repaid activities. Provide technical training,
both one-on-one and in group settings, to internal personnel and
external customers. Interact professionally with internal teams,
customers, contractors, and personnel at all organizational levels.
Maintain accurate service documentation, reports, and records of
work performed. Follow all company safety procedures and applicable
traffic control and job-site safety protocols. Perform other
related technical support duties as assigned. Requirements Must
have high school diploma or GED. Some college education or training
from an accredited electrical trade school is preferred but not
required. Minimum of 2 years of field experience in related
industry. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
required. IMSA Level 2 or higher with some electronic/electrical
working knowledge is strongly preferred. Ability to travel
frequently to job sites by car and occasionally by air. Experience
operating aerial list equipment or ability to obtain certification.
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both
technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work
independently with minimal supervision in field environments while
maintaining coordination with internal teams. Must be flexible to
support after-hours and weekend assignments when necessary to
support field operations or minimize disruption to traffic systems.
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office
Suite. Ability to maintain high level of professionalism while
under pressure. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong mechanical
aptitude. Proficient in the use of hand tools, including meters and
specialty tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Traffic signal product knowledge and/or traffic maintenance
experience a plus. Physical Conditions / Requirements Nearly all
work is performed outdoors at traffic intersections, roadways, and
near freeway environments. Must be comfortable with working
outdoors with traffic exposure and in varying weather conditions.
Position requires approximately 80% driving to various job sites.
Occasional air travel may be required and that may include
overnight stays. Job occasionally requires lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and
work outdoors for extended periods of time. Ability to work at
elevated heights while operating aerial equipment. Occasional –
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work
volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated;
some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to
demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
Hearing requirements: Ability to hear and understand verbal
instructions, warnings, and communications in environments with
background noise such as traffic and construction activities.
Ability to detect and respond to audible alarms, vehicle signs, and
other safety-related sounds. Ability to hear people over the
telephone and in person. Vision requirements: Ability to see
