Job Description:
Summary: Electronics Technician I is accountable to the
Aeronautical Tracking Facility (ATF) Work Group Lead (WGL) for the
overall support of in-scope work in WBS 150. This includes
providing technical support to ensure timely completion of work
while meeting or exceeding quality standards. This position
receives technical guidance from the ATF WGL, Field Service
Engineer, and on senior coworkers such as the Field Service
Engineer. Work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Under direction of a Field
Service Engineer or WGL, perform real-time operations, including
mission preflight configuration and checkout. Assist with
performing preventative and corrective maintenance on all hardware
used for range tracking and mobile systems located in the Dryden
Aeronautical Tracking Range (DATR) facility at the NASA Armstrong
Flight Research Center under the direction of a Field Service
Engineer or the WGL. Under direction of a Field Service Engineer or
WGL. Troubleshoot to component level using digital voltmeters,
oscilloscopes, power meters and other relevant test equipment.
Fabricate, assemble and integrate components, systems and test
devices according to configuration control requests. Maintain
equipment history logs to track maintenance activities. Other
Related Duties: Perform other related duties as required by
management to include supporting other work centers during surges.
This may include cross training into other function areas to meet
overall contract performance objectives. Assist with general
housekeeping of the work area. May be required to support safety,
environmental or tower climbing activities. Qualifications:
Education: Formal education in a relevant field and have
demonstrated technical abilities. This can include standard
industry certifications or military training. Experience: One year
or more is desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Excellent customer service skills Computer system literacy. Ability
to effectively use desktop Microsoft applications such as; Word,
Excel, Power Point, Visio and Outlook. Technical familiarity with
the equipment operated and maintained at the DATR or similar
equipment is desired. Ability to read, write and understand English
Ability to successfully complete the NASA soldering course Ability
to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Security Clearance Must
possess a valid driver's license. Core Competencies: Knowledge of :
RF and servo theory, radar or telemetry fundamentals, power
calculations, conversions and electronic formulas, test equipment
use and application, computer hardware, basic software application
and data interfaces. Ability to : Communicate effectively in both
oral and written form. Apply the principles of logical or
scientific thinking to define problems. Work under pressure during
a stressful mission environment. Establish and maintain successful
work relationships with those contacted in the performance of this
position. Work in a team environment; Work under deadlines. Use a
computer to input and retrieve information and data. Perform work
in an ISO compliant/certified environment. Skills: Good
interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multi-task. Work Environment, Physical and Mental
Demands: Range environment with work at remote locations, prolonged
sitting while using the computer and the telephone, constant use of
sight abilities, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for
communication, constant mental alertness. Ability to work extended
and flexible hours including weekends. Ability to pass a heavy
equipment physical exam required to operate motorized equipment
such as forklifts, bucket lifts and platform personnel lifts.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Ability to climb stairs and
ladders. Work location is in a desert environment, and employees
are in contact with various desert wildlife. Occasional travel is
required.
