is recruiting for a Manager, GSM - Competitive Insights to join its
Global Strategic Marketing (GSM) team in Irvine, California.At

GSM - Competitive Insights leads Johnson & Johnson MedTech's
electrophysiology activities surrounding coverage of competitive
activities as well as scientific insights from the podium at
relevant conferences including collecting, synthesizing, and
distribution of insights and recommended actions. Working closely
with product managers, this marketing leader will also support the
development and sharing of new product and portfolio competitive
positioning. This role will source insights form industry
conferences, competitor activities such as earnings calls and
webinars, and from regional and field teams. This role balances
relationship-building, strategic, creative, and analytical thinking
to develop insights that raises internal awareness of key
competitor insights to position the business as a leader in the
electrophysiology space today and into the future.DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIESIn this role, you will:
- At industry congresses in electrophysiology, attend scientific
sessions on competitive technology and deliver key findings to
senior leaders and the broader organization. After each congress,
own the creation and delivery of competitive intelligence
updates.
- Lead, prioritize, and execute strategic and tactical
marketplace and competitive insight projects and activities,
including leading external people resources.
- Maintain a repository of anticipated new product launch timing
and clinical trial status.
- Provide foundational understanding of competitive positioning
to ensure that new products and programs are grounded in context of
competitive marketplace dynamics
- Partner with GSM colleagues to develop response to competitor
products. Collaborate with regional commercial teams to tailor
global rebuttal messaging to meet local needs, while ensuring key
global messaging is consistent.
- Lead and actively support annual cadence of Strategic Planning
events, in close collaboration with cross-functional partners.
Identify key strategic topics to investigate and partner to develop
and present findings to the JJMT EP Leadership Team.
- Deepen our organization's understanding of cardiac ablation
market trends, uncover areas of opportunity and risk, and translate
insights into actionable strategies and tactics.
- Build expertise in cardiac ablation procedures to frame
competitors and new technologies in the context of clinical jobs
and unmet needs.
- Apply clinical knowledge of competitor products, data
presentations to date, and industry trends to support and shape
podium strategies for JJMT EP.
- Support GSM, Finance, and global commercial teams on all
enterprise processes, including Business Planning, IRR/SQI
reporting, and Portfolio Reviews.QualificationsEducation:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. MBA and/or
advanced professional certifications are preferred.Experience and
Skills:Required:
- 4+ years of relevant business experience required, 6+ years
preferred, with experience in marketing, finance, strategy,
business development, selling or a related field preferred
- Experience in the healthcare, medical device, or cardiovascular
disease area.
- High level of intellectual curiosity that drives proactive
analyses of new market trends to develop actionable insights and
strategy.
- Role requires a passion for problem solving, customer
understanding, and simplifying the complex.
- Ability to link competitive insights to portfolio positioning
and pipeline development strategy.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with MS office applications, including PowerPoint,
Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- The ability to prioritize tasks, leading several projects at a
time, and eliminating/overcoming unproductive, low priority, or low
probability tasks and projects
- 25% travel required, including internationally.Preferred:
- Experience in electrophysiology, including knowledge of the
competitive landscape.
- Proven record of influencing across a matrixed organization as
a result of strong collaboration skills.
- Experience in financial analysis. The Company maintains highly
competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current
guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance
bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The
annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an
incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for
individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/
performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion
on an individual basis.
