The mission of the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) is to provide for the socio-economic betterment of the greater Latino community of California, while preserving the pride, values and heritage of the Mexican American culture. Mexican American Opportunity Foundation Job Description Position: Case Specialist Program: CalWORK's Stage 1 Program FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Hourly Full-Time Supervised by: Program Director Vice President General Purpose: The Case Specialist is responsible to oversee the process of all authorizations of child care services between the parent and the provider, all on-going case management and is also responsible for all problem-solving of the issues. Responsibilities: --- Examines and reviews all documentation to ensure all documents required are completed accurately and with the necessary supporting documents required for eligibility, --- Ensure that all assigned cases are maintained up to date and are re-certified in compliance with DPSS S1 Contract, Statement of Work and CDSS regulations, --- Answer incoming calls promptly with proper phone etiquette, --- Contact parent and/or selected provider regarding missing information, --- Answer all questions regarding child care needs and assists trouble shooting issues, --- Prepares, completes and mails NOA's, --- Verifies participant child care needs via LRS and supportive documentation submitted by participant and/or provider, --- Updates participant and provider data into our CalWORKs, NoHo system and LRS, --- Processes all actions pertaining to on-going case management to include but not limit: changes to hours and/or days, recertification, terminations, transfers, etc., --- Attends staff meetings, workshops, and conferences, as assigned, --- Adhere to organization's and program policies, standards and procedures, --- Insures strict confidentiality of all information and records, --- Interprets and enforces quality assurance standards, --- Provides clerical assistance to perform day-to-day tasks, --- Maintains positive working relationships with all employees, --- Regular attendance, may include evenings as assigned (Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., 10:00Am - 7:00 PM on Monday's and Wednesday's, as assigned and/or 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M), --- Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: --- High school Diploma or GED. --- Bilingual English and Spanish required. --- Computer literate. --- Experience working with parents receiving subsidized childcare and/or CalWORKs for a minimum of (3) years cumulative. --- Any combination of education, training, certificates, which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the daily tasks/duties of this position. --- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision. --- Excellent interpersonal skills. --- Excellent written and verbal skills. --- Willingness to travel in the performance of duties. --- Must have positive attitude with a desire to work with and promote the welfare of children and their families. --- Sensitive to the needs of the program and the general public. --- Must posses own vehicle at all times, a valid California Driver's License and automobile insurance. --- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished verbally and in writing. --- Must be fingerprinted and cleared through the Department of Justice (DOJ). --- Must pass physical test, negative T.B. test or chest X-rays (stated by law), negative drug and alcohol screen test. --- Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers and supervisors; work as part of a team and collaborate with department; and complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are completing requirements and changes in assignments. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. EMPLOYEE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT NOTICE Case Specialist is assigned to work at the MAOF Montebello facility located at 401 N. Garfield Ave., Montebello, California 90640, may be required to travel, and is expected to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, may include evenings. However, in order to meet program requirements, I agree and understand that I may be required to work 10:00Am - 7:00 PM on Monday and Wednesday and/or 7:00AM - 4:00 PM.
